The environment shapes swine lung bacterial communities

چکیده
Previous studies of the lung microbiome have focused on characterizing community and attempts to understand role membership concerning disease or exposures such as cigarette smoke. However, we still lack an understanding two critical aspects microbiome: origin members their fate. As continue better how influences human health, it is essential determine environment shapes membership. Using a pig model, explored relationship that surrounding has resident bacteria by collecting environmental samples (soil, air, water, feed) compare with (swab, lavage, tissue). Results suggest airborne make up highest portion microbiome. Furthermore, from taken bronchioles can be correctly identified which farm they originated, whereas those alveolar are indistinguishable. The findings while may shape bronchioles, distinct exists within alveoli. Our expand upon current provide model microbial communities relate environment.

Nest Material Shapes Eggs Bacterial Environment.
Selective pressures imposed by pathogenic microorganisms to embryos have selected in hosts for a battery of antimicrobial lines of defenses that includes physical and chemical barriers. Due to the antimicrobial properties of volatile compounds of green plants and of chemicals of feather degrading bacteria, the use of aromatic plants and feathers for nest building has been suggested as one of th...

MOTIVATION Novel sequencing techniques can give access to organisms that are difficult to cultivate using conventional methods. When applied to environmental samples, the data generated has some drawbacks, e.g. short length of assembled contigs, in-frame stop codons and frame shifts. Unfortunately, current gene finders cannot circumvent these difficulties. At the same time, the automated predic...
متن کاملEnvironment drives high phylogenetic turnover among oceanic bacterial communities.
Although environmental filtering has been observed to influence the biodiversity patterns of marine bacterial communities, it was restricted to the regional scale and to the species level, leaving the main drivers unknown at large biogeographic scales and higher taxonomic levels. Bacterial communities with different species compositions may nevertheless share phylogenetic lineages, and phylogen...
متن کاملUltraviolet radiation shapes seaweed communities
Stratospheric ozone depletion and the concomitant increase in irradiance of ultraviolet-B radiation (UVB) at the earth’s surface represent major threats to terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. In costal rocky shore environments, seaweeds constitute a group of organisms of particular significance to ecosystem function. Thus, impairment of seaweed performance by UVB-exposure may result in severe c...
متن کاملNatural Sunlight Shapes Crude Oil-Degrading Bacterial Communities in Northern Gulf of Mexico Surface Waters
Following the Deepwater Horizon (DWH) spill in 2010, an enormous amount of oil was observed in the deep and surface waters of the northern Gulf of Mexico. Surface waters are characterized by intense sunlight and high temperature during summer. While the oil-degrading bacterial communities in the deep-sea plume have been widely investigated, the effect of natural sunlight on those in oil pollute...
